The greases used in gear and motor bearings have some differences in performance and application, depending on their differences in working conditions and requirements.
Bearing lubrication grease has higher requirements for noise, high temperature resistance and anti-wear, and gear oil extreme pressure should be more strict, there should be a strong oil film and a good extreme pressure solid lubricant, the following are some main differences:
1.Structure and working principle: Gears transfer power and torque through the meshing between teeth, while motor bearings achieve rolling motion between the inner and outer rings through rolling elements (such as balls or rollers).
2.Load and speed requirements: The gear usually bears a higher load and a lower speed, so the viscosity of the grease is relatively high to ensure that sufficient lubrication film is formed and the contact surface of the gear teeth is separated. Motor bearings usually bear higher speeds and lower loads, so the requirements for greases are mainly to reduce friction and provide good lubrication.
3.Anti-corrosion performance: gear may be exposed to harsh environmental conditions during work, and the anti-corrosion performance of grease is required to protect the gear surface from moisture, chemicals or other corrosive media. For motor bearings, the corrosion resistance of grease is relatively not so high.
4.Shear resistance: The gear may be subjected to large shear forces during operation, so the grease needs to have a high shear resistance to maintain the stability and durability of the lubrication film. For motor bearings, the shear resistance of grease is relatively low.
