Grease should be no stranger to everyone, is a widely used lubricant. Various types of greases are used in daily mechanical repair, including sodium base, calcium base, lithium base, barium base, aluminum base grease, etc., to ensure the normal operation of the operating parts of the equipment. Compared with lubricating oil lubrication, grease lubrication does not require complex lubrication devices, and the amount of grease used is less, so it is widely used. That is, grease lubrication has the advantages of easy use and low cost. In particular, 80% of rolling bearings are lubricated with grease.

The filling amount of grease depends on the environment, construction and operating temperature of the bearing. The grease in the bearing begins to flow with the rotation of the bearing, and will enter a stable distribution after a period of rotation. The very small amount of liquid grease that remains in the friction part plays the main lubrication role, and the grease that is squeezed in the outside does not flow itself, that is, it does not have a direct lubrication effect. However, the grease remaining in the outside acts as a seal to prevent the flow of the grease remaining in the friction part from flowing out.

Note: too much grease will increase the friction torque, increase the temperature, pollute the environment with oil leakage, and increase the fat consumption; However, if the amount of grease is too small, it can not obtain reliable lubrication and dry friction occurs.

About choosing grease or oil lubrication? In order to make the bearing function well, we must first choose the lubrication method suitable for the conditions of use and the purpose of use. If only lubrication is considered, the lubricity of oil lubrication is dominant, but grease lubrication also has the advantage of simplifying the structure around the bearing.
